NOW THAT'S SOUTH!

I'm traveling to a city I've not only never visited before, but I've never even heard of it before! It's called Harlingen, TX. There are 5 Lowe's stores in that area, within about 100 miles of each other, that I need to hire a rep to service. Currently, our rep from Corpus Christi is driving there to service these 5 stores. So, I'm going to hire a part-timer from the McAllen/Harlingen area to take care of them.

Anyway, in making my plans, I looked at a map and was surprised by a few things. First, there are quite a few cities in the southern tip of Texas. Second, a very nice resort area is there...South Padre Island, which I've heard about. It's a beautiful place. Finally, that area is incredibly far south! Way south. Waaayyy down there.

Check out how far south of, say, San Diego it is. I always thought when I went down to Tijuana or Ensenada I was going pretty far south in the world. Look how far south Harlingen is!

I guess I'd better bone up on my Spanish and get some pesos.

Well, related to nothing at all, did you know that Reno, NV is west of San Diego?

Mark's former in-laws had a grandmother living in Harlingen--he went there a few times to see her. A hurricane hit there last year--she moved to Norman.
